Service User Status

A service user will join your care home as an Active service user. They will be assigned a bed and will be part of the rounds that you carry out.

If a service user has to leave the care home temporarily, whether that's to visit family or maybe they have to go into hospital, you need to make sure that service user is set to be Inactive. This means that you are expecting them to come back, so it keeps their bed allocation, but pauses any round activity.

When it's time for a service user to leave your care home, whether that's because they are Discharged or if they unfortunately pass away, you need to make sure that the service user is set to the relevant status so they no longer appear on the rounds and their bed allocation is made available.

With each of these different status settings, there will be some stock management to do when you set a new status, and HxCare will help you with that. If a service user gets set to inactive, you'll be able to book out medication for them during the period they are away. If a service user leaves your care home, you will get the option to let them take their medication with them, or you can return the medication instead. When a service user returns from being inactive and you make them active again, you'll be able to book any stock that they bring with them back in.
